Was encouraged by this report on how you guys are using the talent and creativity that you’ve been given to be used as tools, or keys to help these hurt ones, be ransomed and physically set free from abuse!

Also, Bryan thanks for sharing this burden with us at City Church (even if it was not the most polished presentation), as you, Peter and Phil helped us rock out in Madison, WI, and get our kids to Belize. My wife and I enjoyed getting to meet and serve you and the guys!

May Brian’s capo sustain clear and crisp notes on the rest of your gigs!

Its December 24th — Christmas Eve — and I’m sitting at home watching my son River destroy the house. I’m also reflecting on 2009 for VOTA and all the things the Lord has brought us through, used us in, and shown us. In 2009 we toured with our friends Newsboys (who had a few changes of their own), December Radio, Bread of Stone, Barlow Girl, and Superchik. We said goodbye to long-time member and drummer Scott Rutz as he moved on to an advertising career, as well as guitarist Riley Friesen and sound engineer Andrew Stoner. We said hello to our two newest members Jeff Goff on drums and Cody Bender on guitar and keys. We said goodbye to Casting Pearls and hello to VOTA, put out our first record under that name with INO Records in February, released some singles to radio (H2B, I’ll Go, Honestly), made a music video for Hard 2 Believe that is up for a Dove Award, built a new web site, put a new engine in our bus, and saw the country from coast-to-coast TWICE! Phew. Without a doubt the most important thing we saw the Lord do with our little band is help raise over $200,000 to a people in need in Kenya through our partnership with Food For The Hungry (www.VOTAband.com/kenya). That, to me, sticks out the most. I feel like the contributions that YOU made in buying our record and sponsoring Kenyan children is going to be the most eternally significant of all the accolades and accomplishments of 2009. So, thank you!

We look forward to seeing you in the Spring of 2010 as we tour again with Barlow Girl and new bus-mates Stellar Kart.

    Cheers!

    Case and VOTA

Hey everyone, Riley here. Just got back from a few shows within the midwest. I have some bitter/sweet news for all you musician “gear head” people. Vota has established a sort of Fender sponsorship, so I am selling my precious Gibson Les Paul. It hurts to see it go after playing so many great shows with Sanctus Real, Tenth Ave, and festivals like life-light. But there is a season for everything, and this season: SELL!

Anyone interested in my pride-and-joy visit

    Thanks!!

      Dearest Riley,
So as I sit here, trying to write a 10 page paper that is due in less than 10 hours, my roommate decided to rock my ears off with what he called “inspirational music” to inspire me to finish this dang paper. Well we were rocking out to it when I asked who the band was. Low and behold, it was Vota. I was like, “MIKE! Where did you get this? This is the band Anthony’s friend is in!”. He said he got it as the Free Download of the Week on iTunes. So yeah. That’s my story. I thought it was cool. I hope you do too. Have fun on tour by the way!
